Institutul National de Cercetare Dezvoltare pentru Chimie si Petrochimie – ICECHIM, established by Government Decision no. 293/04.03.2004, with an activity of more than 60 years of applied and fundamental research, has the following main directions for research:
• Valorisation of bioresources
• Nanosciences and Nanomaterials
• Environmental protection and sustainable management of resources
• Improving the competitiveness of industrial products
• Rehabilitation and revitalization of Romanian chemical and petrochemical industry
• Recovery, recycling and valorization of by-products
Currently ICECHIM focuses its activity on directions which are related to:
• Development of research infrastructure
• Development of international partnership projects in niche areas
• Technology transfer
ICECHIM has a large experience in the development of national and international projects within the National Plan for Research-Development and Innovation, Sectoral Plans and Nucleus Program,within International Research-Development and Innovation Programmes, and within other scientific research and technological development activities.
In the last 2 years, through the Center of Technology Transfer founded in 2011, ICECHIM has achieved 15 contracts of technology transfer to companies and a SPIN-OFF important for researches of experimental development on pilot plants
ICECHIM was certified for implementation of quality standards ISO 9001 and ISO 17025.
ICECHIM performs related activities conducted in the own field of activity, with the coordinating Ministry approval and, if necessary, with the authorization of the competent institutions:
• Technological transfer of its research results, consulting, marketing and services in the field
• Analysis services, tests and trials in laboratories accredited according to ISO 17025
• Elaboration of strategies, studies of diagnosis and prognosis
• Elaboration of norms and standards aligned to intenational quality system
• Providing technical assistance and specialized technical expertise
• Development of internal information system, systems of databases, the data processing and imaging, modeling and simulation of chemical and petrochemical processes
ICECHIM participates in the IZADI-NANO2INDUSTRY Consortium with its Polymer composites and nanocomposites Team, from the Polymer Department. Polymer composites and nanocomposites Team has a continous research activity route, gathered during previous EU projects (FP5, FP6, FP7 and now H2020) with a wide topic (starting from automotive materials up to biomedical systems).
The research activity of ICECHIM’s team in IZADI Project is focused on developing new multifunctional materials with taylored properties needed for different applications, especially in automotive industry. Accordingly, the research directions taken into account have been focused on the characterization, modification and processing, concerning both the components and (nano) resulted composites, as well as the obtaining processes and interaction mechanisms. The main goals of Team’s research are the enhancement of specific properties required by different applications and improvement of processability.
